Cookery Mondays – Book Launch

Last Thursday (12 May 2022) we had our Cookery Monday book launch in the school. All of sixth class went down to the PE hall that morning. Mr. Diver welcomed Rachel Allen, Ms Gleeson, her husband Frank, her daughter Zoe, her sister Joan, Aoife the photographer, members of the Board of Management and the sixth class parents. Bake Sale Day 2018

At the end of the 2018 school year, 6th class held a bake sale to raise money for two special causes. The children managed to raise just over €1,000. Half of the money went to the Peter McVerry Trust and the rest for new school equipment. As seen in the photograph, new weighing scales and microwave were purchased for the kitchen. A set of yoga mats were bought for our new yoga classes. Some of this money will also be spent on the school toilets. After many weeks of hard work, some setbacks and challenges and a lot of learning, we now have a fully functioning weather station up and running in our school!                                          DRY ICE! Last week was science week, Mr Maguire’s class done an experiment with dry ice. Dry ice is some carbon dioxide frozen that you can order online. We were not allowed touch it because you could get frost bite in less than five seconds. We used fairy liquid, gloves, balloons, bottles, cup, water, kettle, plate and pipes. Our school is one of only a 1000 schools around the globe who managed to get our hands on a Raspberry Pi Weather Station. This weather station enables the collection of weather data, using a variety of sensors which include a rain gauge, an anemometer, a wind vane and a soil temperature probe.
