Every School Day Counts

Tulsa are launching a rebranding of their initiatives around Attendance, Retention and Participation in education with the introduction of TESS (Tusla Education Support Service) which incorporates the Home School Community Liaison Scheme, The School Completion Programme and the Statutory Educational Welfare Service. The new brand will be launched in the Mansion House in Dublin on November 5th 2019.

Attendance, Retention and Participation are the cornerstones of TESS. The primary focus of this campaign is on improved attendance, in order that students can attain the best possible outcome from their time in education.
Tulsa propose a national initiative with their 20 Day Challenge campaign to coincide with this brand launch during the month of November. They hope the campaign will complement existing school endeavours to promote and support school attendance throughout the academic year. This school benefits through having a Home-School teacher (HSCL) and a School Completion Programme project worker (SCP ) so it is most appropriate that we would engage in this campaign to further assist us with our work on improving school attendance. For our “Every School Day Counts” campaign in school we propose the following:
  1. Pupil Poster “Every School Day Counts” competition proposed for next week 14 – 18 October. One prize of voucher €10 per grade. Poster winners announced and prize giving during November assembly. Each school can submit two entries to Tusla.
  2. Month of November – 20 Day Challenge for all pupils. Tusla have developed resources for parents and pupils. We will display the pupil poster in foyer and in each classroom. Tusla have designed a very useful poster with Every School Day Counts – Tips for Parents by Parents which you can access by clicking here
Each child with full participation, will be given a certificate and ticket for Golden Book.  We will choose some additional Golden Book winners during our December assembly in school.

Finally, we wish to thank all our parents for their assistance with promoting good attendance at home.
