Third class experiment with helium

Third class experiment with helium

In Mr. Maguire’s class, The children have been learning about different gases and how they work. Last week they got to experiment with Helium. Helium is less dense than other gases in our air, so it rises up into the sky. The children got to see how this works. They blew up balloons with a helium tank and then attached them to pencils. Their mission was to lift the pencils into the air using the Helium. Most of the children estimated it would take a two or three  balloons to lift the pencils but it took around 7 balloons for some pencils to fly up. It was great fun...

Trip to Tallaght Library

Trip to Tallaght Library

Last Wednesday 14/11/18, we went to Tallaght library. We walked from Sacred Heart to the library. First, we took a seat and met two ladies who would show us around. After we looked at some picture books and we talked about library cards. We got a tour of the library and we learned that the last name of the author is where the book has to go. There were sections from A-Z. For example a book by David Walliams would go in the ‘W’ section. The ladies showed us all of the different types of books that you can get. We found some books that we can use...

Christmas Giving Update

Thank you so much to those of you who have made such generous donations to our Christmas Giving Appeal for those in need in our area. It means so much at a time of year which can be so hard for some while teaching our children that through giving, even in the smallest ways we also feel better. We are continuing to collect up to December 3rd so if you want to contribute that would be fantastic. The children can drop their items or money donations to the Parents Room in the morning. We are taking hats, gloves, scarves, new toys or even 2euro. Thanks again, Aine, HSCL   ...
