Attendance – Term 2 – 2019/2...

Due to Covid 19 School Closures, it was not possible to present attendance certificates as usual at the end of term to pupils with Full Attendance. Instead using our Class Dojo system 61 children (23%), were awarded their certificate for Full Attendance—Term 2 by having it uploaded and approved on their ePortfolio. Attendance records for January and February show an improvement over the figures for previous years. Attendance – Term 1 – 2019/2...

Today in the school, 41 children (15%), were presented with a certificate and prize for Full Attendance—Term 1. However, our overall attendance statistics for December (down from 90.4% last year to 87. 4%) are not as good as anticipated due to the high levels of pupil absences this month, particularly on the three Fridays in December where 44 or 45 pupils were recorded as absent. Every School Day Counts – 20 Day C...

Our school took part in the TESS (Tusla Educational Support Service) Every School Day Counts – 20 Day Challenge during the month of November 2019. You will recall we had  a very successful Poster Competition in October to raise awareness of the importance of attending school every day which had a positive impact on school attendance during November. Science Week 2019

We had a great week celebrating Science Week with lots of activities taking place during the week. Patrick Hunt from Heritage in schools came in and worked with children in 5th class. The children learned all about the importance of trees. The theme of this year’s Science Week was climate action and climate change. Children from all grades were busy working on science experiments and learning about some very famous scientists. Poster Competition – “Every ...

Heartiest congratulations to all our pupils who took part in the “Every School Day Counts” Poster Competition here in the school last month. Teachers have commented very positively on the discussions and conversations that they observed and heard while pupils were engaged in designing their posters. It is no surprise therefore, to say that the standard of the posters designed and entered by pupils was extremely high.
