Science Week 2019

Science Week 2019

We had a great week celebrating Science Week with lots of activities taking place during the week. Patrick Hunt from Heritage in schools came in and worked with children in 5th class. The children learned all about the importance of trees. The theme of this year’s Science Week was climate action and climate change.

Children from all grades were busy working on science experiments and learning about some very famous scientists. The 6th class children went on a visit to TU Tallaght, where they learned all about the solar system. Children in other grades got to see examples of different experiments taking place. Mr Maguire organised for all classes to see dry ice in action. The children loved seeing the dry ice transform into a gas in front of them. Children were also busy making circuits, planting seeds, launching rockets and making a great mess with ooblek. It was great to see student leadership taking place during the week. Some children got the opportunity to show different grades how to carry out experiments, there’s definitely future teachers here in Killinarden.
