Poster Competition – “Every School Day Counts”

Heartiest congratulations to all our pupils who took part in the “Every School Day Counts” Poster Competition here in the school last month. Teachers have commented very positively on the discussions and conversations that they observed and heard while pupils were engaged in designing their posters. It is no surprise therefore, to say that the standard of the posters designed and entered by pupils was extremely high. Our HSCL teacher Aine and SCP Project Worker Amy had a very difficult task shortlisting the posters to be considered for the awarding of one prize winner at each grade level. We have a really nice display of the posters that were shortlisted on display in the corridor just inside the main entrance.

Congratulations to the prize winners – Tori (Rang 3), Jenkins (Rang 4), Enya (Rang 5) and Azeezat (Rang 6) who were presented with their €10 Square vouchers at Assembly on Tuesday morning.

Now that we are half way through the “Every School Day Counts” 20 Day Challenge taking place during the month of November we are seeing the impact of all our pupils work in designing their posters and the encouragement their parents have been giving them at home as our attendance statistics to date for November are 92.3% as compared to 91.8% last year and 91.3% two years ago. Perhaps in the remaining two weeks of November, with a very determined effort from all our pupils and the support and encouragement of their parents/guardians and family we might strive to get back up closer to the levels of 92.8%  we were achieving four or five years ago.
