The Gift of Giving

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are having two fundraising events in the run up to Christmas. These are:
• Christmas Hamper Raffle
• Christmas ‘Giving’

The raffle has run very successfully over the last number of years. Your child will be asked to bring in some food items, which will then make up hampers. The cost of tickets for this draw will be €2 for one strip of tickets or €5 for three strips.
The school is very grateful for the support that we receive from parents and guardians. All money raised will then be used by the school to help further enhance your child’s education.

As part of S.P.H.E. we want to ask the children to practice ‘Giving’. The message for the children is ‘If we focus on what we can give to others, instead of what we can get from them, we will be happier and healthier. We can give in many ways; it doesn’t matter how small.’ We also benefit through building positive relationships.
With Christmas is approaching we thought that we could make a collection for the needy in our area. If each child brought in a hat, scarf or gloves we can donate them to Tallaght Adventure World. They are also looking for donations of new toys. If a child prefers they could donate €2 and with this collection we can buy new toys from Smyths, display them so the children can see what they have bought and then bring them over to Tallaght Adventure World.
Children can drop items into the Parents Room or give money donations to their teachers for collection. We hope to have the collection ready to deliver the week of the 3rd of December. We will take in items from tomorrow, Wednesday 14th November.
Thank you for supporting a wonderful cause and for helping your children learn how important ‘giving’ is in life.
Kind Regards,
Áine Murphy,
HSCL Teacher
