Tallaght/Killinarden Past and Present Community Project

HSCL

There was great excitement in Killinarden Community Centre on the 14th March. Children from schools in the area got together to display their work based on a community project. The project was titled ‘Tallaght/ Killinarden past and present’ and was organised by our Local Education Committee (LEC). The LEC is made up of different people from the community, HSCL teachers and parents.

Our school was represented by the children from 6th class.  Mr Cassidy’s class presented a great project on Malachi Horan. Ms Maye’s class and Ms Gleeson /Ms Lawlor’s classes presented their work on a local trip to Tallaght’s historical sites. These projects were of great interest to local historian and TD Eamonn Moloney, our local councillor Cathal King and Lynn Boylan. Fr. Manus our parish priest of Killinarden and Canon William Deverell of St Maelruain’s Church in Tallaght were also in attendance and were both very impressed with the wonderful work on display.

A brass band called Booka band entertained the guests on the day. Paula Ryan a parent from our school addressed all the guests on the day, explaining the project and welcoming everyone to the event.  Well done Paula!

A great day was had by all at this community event. Next term the parents will be going on a walking tour of Tallaght’s historical sites as well as a trip into the Little Museum of Dublin.
